British hopefuls struggle in Wimbledon qualifying

Tuesday was a disappointing day for Britain's hopefuls at Wimbledon qualifiers in Roehampton.

Kyle Edmund, who had beaten Daniel Gimeno-Traver - a player ranked 1168 places above him - a day earlier, made a perfect start to his match against Marcel Felder.

The 17-year-old took the opening set without dropping a single game, but the Uruguayan battled back to claim a 0-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-2 win.

Elsewhere, Chris Eaton also bowed out following an impressive showing. The world number 520 battled hard before eventually losing 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 (6-8) to top seed Jurgen Zopp.

In the women's event, wild card Lisa Whybourn won her first-round match against Germany's Sarah Gronert 6-1 4-6 6-4, however Jade Windley, Katy Dunne, Anna Fitzpatrick, Melanie South and Tara Moore were all eliminated.
