Live Commentary: Wimbledon Day 12 - As it happened

Sports Mole brings you live text coverage from day 12 of the 126th Wimbledon Championships.

Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage from day 12 at the 126th Wimbledon Championships.

It is women's final day and Serena Williams's big chance to land a fifth singles title at SW19 as she goes up against Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska.

Radwanska, who is appearing in her first Grand Slam final, could become the new world number one with a victory here today.

That match will be followed by the men's doubles final, in which Great Britain's Jonathan Marray and his partner Frederik Nielsen go up against Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau.

Then in the women's doubles final, Serena is in action again when she and her sister Venus lock horns with Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the last of today's mouthwatering clashes.

22.55Plenty of cause for celebration in the Venus household this evening, with the famous sisters' doubles victory capping off what has been a spectacular day of tennis. That's all from us here today. Log on to Sports Mole tomorrow to follow Andy Murray's exploits in the men's final.

22.48GAME, SET AND MATCH! V. Williams / S. Williams 7-5 6-4 Hlavackova / Hradecka - Venus fires home the serve to wrap up the championship! It has been a flawless performance by the sisters tonight against tough opposition, and no less than they deserve!

22.47Hradecka balloons a return to go down 30-0, and Hlavackova puts one narrowly out for 40. The game is in the bag now, surely!

22.46Venus to serve in this vital game!

22.45The Williams sisters remain in the driving seat, but they have 15 minutes to put this game to bed!

22.43Hradecka is putting in a solid service game, but an expert return from Serena got the scores back to 30-40. The Czechs clinch the deciding point, but are still chasing the game.

22.41More great reflexes from an energised Venus to secure the point that makes it 5-3.

22.38Venus claims the point of the match at 30-30 to go in front. She went to ground, but was on her feet like a shot to get to the return. Amazing stuff!

22.36Having said that, they've 30-15 to the good while Serena is serving.

22.35They still have the seemingly impossible task of breaking their opponents' serve to attend to.

22.35Hlavackova's return is met by a powerful Serena backhand to make it 40-30, but the Czech's nerves hold to claw it back to 4-3.

22.33Hlavackova is serving and the Czechs are go 30-0 up as Serena hits the ground. It looked nasty, but apparently she's fine.

22.31Venus blasts one down the line for 40-15, and the Williams go on to take the game for 4-2.

22.30Serene uncharacteristically sends one into the stands to go 30-15 down, the Czech's lead doesn't last long.

22.29The Williams sister are 3-2 up in the second set, having taken the first. We're at 15-15 in the sixth game with Venus serving.

22.27Break! Serena clinches the vital point with a vicious backhand. One break was enough to take the first set. Will it suffice here?

22.36She double-faults for deuce and drives a return into the net to hand the Williams sisters a break point.

22.23Hlavackova catches out Venus with a well-place forehand slice for 30-15. It's Hradecka's turn to serve.

22.22Hlavackova makes it 40-15 with a reflex strike, but it isn't enough to stop the Williams sister from taking the game. It's two games all in the second set now.

22.22Hlavackova makes it 40-15 with a reflex strike, but it isn't enough to stop the Williams sister from taking the game. It's two games all in the second set now.

22.21Hradecka puts too much on her return, putting the Czechs 30-0 down as Serena serves.

22.17They stay in front in the second set as Venus hits the net to hand them the decisive point. They two games to one up, but one set down.

22.17Lovely teamwork by the Czechs is capped off by a Hradecka that puts them 30-15 to the good.

22.16Hradecka sends Venus's next serve skyward to hand the game to the Williams. It's 1-1 in the second set.

22.14Hradecka's return hits the net for deuce and her partner does the same to hand their opponents the advantage.

22.13Hlavackova smashes home a powerful volley from 30-30, and the Czechs go on to earn a break point at 40-30.

22.12She double-faults for 15-15, but Serena comes to the rescue with cheeky swipe to make it 30-15

22.11The Czechs respond well, holding their serve in the opening game of the second set, but they have Venus's serve to contend with now.

22.07SET! V. Williams / S. Williams 7-5 Hlavackova / Hradecka Never in doubt!

22.06Advantage goes to the Williams sisters courtesy of a mighty Serena serve.

22.06But it goes the other way and we're at deuce. What a first set this has turned out to be!

22.05Fantastic reflexes from Hradecka keeps the Czechs in the sets at 40-30, but the Williams can still take the set by securing the next point.

22.04It's 30-15 here now, but you wouldn't bet against Serena holding her serve.

22.02And it's Serena who the Czechs need to break to stay in the set.

22.02They will now serve for the first set!

22.01Break! Wonderful cross-court drive from Serena gets the better of Hlavackova to put the Williams sisters in the driving seat.

22.00Here we go, the first break point of the game falls to the Williams.

21.59Hlavackova secures the first point in her service game, but over-hits a return to make it 15-15. She then double-faults to go 30-15 down.

21.58Game to the Williams sister, and it's 5-5 in the first set. Both sides are inseparable.

21.57It's 40-15 here now, and Venus's serving prowess is giving her sister a run for her money.

21.56A nice ace from Venus makes it 30-15 in her favour.

21.55The Williams sisters must hold serve now to stay in the opening set, and it's Venus who shoulders the responsibility. She starts out by making it 15-0.

21.53Hradecka is in good stead to hold her serve now. There was a good rally at 30-0, which ended when Venus misjudged a forehand slice.

21.52Another flawless service game from Serena. It's Venus who clinches the decisive point, though, with a subtle forehand. It's 4-4 now.

21.50The Czech duo hold steady to secure the game, and the opening set remains evenly matched at 4-3. There doesn't appear to be a weak link on the court, particularly where service is concerned.

21.48Venus hits a return far too long to make it 40-15 to Hlavackova and Hradecka, but Serena catches the latter out with a drive for 40-30.

21.47It's Hlavackova turn to serve now, and this game looks to be mirroring the men's doubles final in the sense that service could be the deciding factor.

21.45A double back-hand from Serene makes it 40, and the Williams sisters go on to take the game to keep the set all square.

21.44Hlavackova strikes the net to go 15-0 down, and her partner does the same from Venus's second service to make it 30.

21.42The Czech serves up an ace to seal the game, putting them 3-2 up in the first game. Venus will get us back under way in her serve game.

21.41Hradecka is serving now, and her nerve looks to be holding. Her and Hlavackova go 40-15 up, but Serena pulls one back for 40-30.

21:39And she puts one narrowly out for 40-0, before Serena's serve catches out Hradecka to take the game. All square at 2-2.

21.39Hlavackova strikes the net from a powerful serve from Serena to go down 15-0. She stood no chance!

21:36Hlavackova's serve looks equally steady, but the Williams sisters offer some resistance, taking two points during the third game. They're 2-1 down now, though.

21.34It's one game apiece in the women's final. Both sides have held their serve as we go into the third game of the first set.

21.26We've got the women's doubles final between the Williams sisters and Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka!

21.25And we've just seen Britain's Jonathan Marray and Denmark's Frederik Nielsen crowned men's doubles champions at Wimbledon after a thrilling five-set victory over Robert Lindsted and Horia Tecau.

21.22So, to provide a recap on today's extraordinary events, Serena Williams defeated Agnieszka Radwanska 1-6 7-5 2-6 to claim her fifth Wimbledon singles title in our first game.

21.20That will do wonders for Marray and Nielsen's word rankings, meaning they can qualify for Grand Slam competitions without the need for the wildcard route.

21.15This really is a fairy tale! The unseeded duo were a wildcard addition to the tournament, and have gone on to defy all expectation and lift the trophy. Heartbreak for Lindstedt and Tecau, who fall at the final hurdle once again.

21.15Lindstedt/Tecau 6-4 4-6 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (5-7) 3-6 Marray/Nielsen

21.10GAME, SET AND MATCH! Marray's thunderbolt serve is returned, but a cool backhand from his Danish partner seals victory!

21.10Here we go - 40-30!

21.08A couple of serve from Marray made it 30-15, but wonderful reflexes from Lindstedt levels things!

21.07It's 15-15 here. Nielsen levels the game with an unintentional forehand strike.

21.06Lindstedt and Tecau respond with a flawless game to make it 5-3. They're still in it, but the unseeded duo will now serve for the title!

21.04A backhand reflex volley from Marray stays in by the narrowest of margins to clinch the game. It's 5-2 in their favour now.

21.02Tecau clatters to the ground trying to reach a Nielsen volley at full stretch, but he doesn't get enough on it, and goes 30-0 down.

21.00Tecau's serve remains true to form. Lindstedt rifles back a Marray return for 40-0, and the Brit hits the ball out to hand the game to his opponents. We're at 4-2 now, and it's vital that Nielsen's serve holds in the next game.

20.58Not quite! Marray and Nielsen's nerve holds to make it four games to one in the final set. They still have the edge here.

20.57We're at 30-30 now. Can Lindstedt and Tecau break back?

20.55Another one of those rare rallies ends up with Nielsen forcing the error from Lindstedt for 15-15 with Marray serving.

20.54And Lindstedt and Tecau take the game to make it 3-1 in the final set. How will the Brit and the Dane respond?

20.53Nielsen scuff a shot to go 30-15 down, and he looked in some pain doing so. Let's hope that injury isn't playing up too much.

20.52If they can hold there serves, the trophy is theirs. A real test of their resolve coming up.

20.50The Dane makes amends for two sloppy serves in that game to claim the decisive point, putting Marray and Nielsen 3-0 up in the set.

20.49Nielsen looked to be struggling with his first serve, causing him and his partner to go 30-0 down, but we're back level now.

20.48Break! They can! Lindstedt miss-hits a volley to gift the game to his opponents. The underdogs are in the driving seat now!

20.47Marray and Nielsen have the chance to secure an early break in the fifth set at 40-30. Can they capitalise?

20.45Outstanding reflexes from Nielsen catches Tecau off guard from 15-0 in the second game, but the Romanian soon levels the game at 15-15.

20.43After the bitter disappointment of losing that tie-break, Marray responds with a strong service game to make it 1-0 in the fifth set.

20.38SET! Lindstedt/Tecau 6-4 4-6 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (5-7) Marray/Nielsen Marray and Nielsen had one hand each on the trophy there, but their opponents show some grit and determination to turn the tie-break on its head. It's two sets each now and the crowd is stunned!

20.36Nielsen serves at 5-4, Tecau connects to make the return and force an error from Marray to level the tie-break.

20.35Marray sends in a serve at 113mph, and he and his partner are 5-3 up now.

20.33Inspired play from Marray secured a third point, but Lindstedt/Tecau hit back for 3-2.

20.32Great team play put Marray and Nielsen 2-0 up in the tie-break, but Lindstedt has pulled one back for 2-1. This is edge-of-your-seat stuff!

20.30A couple of powerful serves from the Brit sets things right and secures the game for 6-6. Here we go, tie-break time.

20.29It's 30-30 in Marray's service game and the nerves are being to flare.

20.26Tecau turns in another strong service game. Him and his partner have now served up 14 aces between them, but we're approaching a deadlock in this third set. Marray and Nielsen are serving at 6-5 down. Is a tie-break looming?

20.24Nielsen's backhand is looking weak. He's just hit the net with a limp effort to go 15-0 down.

20.23But the unseeded duo go on to take the next two points to secure the game. We're all square at 5-5, and this had been an evenly-matched set.

20.21Nielsen isn't getting enough first serves in here. It's 30-30 in his service game.

20.19Lindstedt's serve holds, but his opponents cause a few problems, taking two points during the game. 5-4 to the Swede and the Romanian.

20.17Another good service game from Marray for four games each. There's every chance this set could go to a tie-break.

20.15It's 30-0 to Marray and Nielsen. The Brit's serve has forced errors from both of his opponents.

20.13Marray belts home a forehand for 40-15, but Lindstedt and Tecau take the game without too much resistance. 4-3 to the favourites.

20.13Tecau's serve looks like it will hold here. Nielsen hits the net for 40-0.

20.11Marray makes it 40 with a bouncing volley and the pair go on to wrap up the game to level the set at 3-3.

20.09A pair of solid serves from Nielsen makes it 30-0 in his service game.

20.07The unseeded pair are no match for Lindstedt's serve, allowing the Swede to claim all of the points in that game. And here we are at 3-2.

20.05At 40-30 to Marray and Nielsen, the Brit serves an ace to secure the game for two apiece.

20.04Lindstedt connects with Marray's serve but can only find the net for 30-15.

20.02Blistering backhand from Lindstedt makes it 15-0 but Marray smashes home a volley to level the game.

20.00Tecau secures the advantage and fires off a thunderous serve to secure the game and put him and his partner 2-1 up.

19.58Great team play between Lindstedt and Tecau made it 40-30, but Marray fires home for deuce.

19.56A fine cross-court volley from Tecau makes it 30-0 as the serves continue to be the deciding factor here.

19.54A Tecau backhand puts some points on the board, but Nielsen's serve holds for an otherwise flawless game. We're at one game apiece in the second set.

19.53Lindstedt tests Nielsen's backhand and gets the better of him. Is that injury he's carrying affecting his game?

19.51A blistering ace from the Swede makes it 30-15, and he's gone on to make it 40.

19.50Lindstedt gets the third set under way, with him and his partner Tecau trailing by two sets to one.

19.47The roof is up over Centre Court now, making this the first Wimbledon final to be played beneath it.

19:46Thanks, Jack. We should be back under way any minute. Damn rain! Just as the match was gaining momentum.

19.45Right, on that note I will hand you back over to my colleague Mark Langshaw. Enjoy!

19.42Here come the players!

19.40Word is that the women's doubles final will also be finished tonight so it could be a late on at the All England Club.

19.40The line judges and umpire are out. We're now just waiting for the players...

19.31To recap, the unseeded wild card pairing of Jonny Marray and Frederik Nielsen currently lead Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau by two sets to one. It would be some win for the unfancied duo if they can see out the next set. We'll be back in five.

19.29Looks like we have another 12 minutes to wait as the announces says that play should be resumed at 7.40pm.

19.28And there it is - fully closed. This should give fans a good chance to top up.

19.24However, what this means is that we'll have a further break of around 25 minutes as they get the roof closed and sort the air out inside the arena. I wonder what the players are up to?

19.21A man with a fairly monotone voice comes over the PA system to tell the crowd that the roof will be used. Cue wild cheers.

19.17Let's not forget that we have the women's doubles final to come with the Williams sisters taking on Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka. Though I'm not sure how the time will work out on that one.

19.15...and play is suspended. That certainly won't help Marray/ Nielsen as the momentum was firmly with them. In contrast, Lindstedt/Tecau are probably loving this. No decision on whether the roof will be deployed as of yet.

19.14It's spitting at SW19...

19.13It was touch and go as to whether Marray's honesty would cost the wild card pairing in that set. It was certainly the right thing to do to tell the umpire that he had touched the net during a rally but Lindstedt/Tecau were clawing their way back into it for a moment.

19.11It doesn't matter though as Lindstedt whacks his forehand well wide to give Marray/Nielsen the second set and a two sets to one lead.

19.11Marray/Nielsen 4-6 6-4 7-6[5] Lindstedt/Tecau

19.10Lindstedt/Tecau are again mounting a comeback. It's 5-6.

19.09But Marray/Nielsen bring up a set point! Can they take it?

19.08Lindstedt/Tecau are fighting back as they make it 3-4...

19.06Incredible stuff from the pair again as they lead 4-0. Or do they? Marray shows great sportsmanship to tell the umpire that he touched the net with his volley so the point goes the other way.

19.05They get another mini-break thanks to Nielsen's deft volley.

19.04Great start from Marray/Nielsen as they go 2-0 ahead.

19.03Marray/Nielsen won the first two points on their opponents' service game but Lindstedt/Tecau come back to hold and force the tie-break. Tense times out there on Centre Court.

18.59Some excellent play from both Marray and Nielsen ends with Nielsen serving an ace to hold. They now lead 6-5.

18.55However, it does little to deter Tecau who serves ferociously to hold.

18.53The Centre Court crowd turns up the atmosphere knowing that Marray/Nielsen are just a break away from the set.

18.52A couple of poor volleys from Nielsen looked to have cost him and his partner there but they go onto win the game and move 5-4 in front.

18.51...but it's saved as the Romanian Tecau hits the net.

18.50Lindstedt/Tecau bring up a break point...

18.49Some luck goes Marray/ Nielsen's way after what looked to be a wide volley from the Dane is judged in by HawkEye. 15-30.

18.47A couple of wayward shots from Marray gives the opposing pair a hold of serve to level it up at 4-4.

18.45Just as I join you, Marray/Nielsen hold to go 4-3 up in this third set. Lindstedt/Tecau are looking ruffled.

18:42I'm off to take a break now, so I'll leave you in the very capable hands of Jack Prescott for the next hour.

18:41Marray and Nielsen claw it back to 40-30.

18:40It's his turn to serve, and he's on the verge of a clean sweep at 40-0.

18:39Back under way now, and Tecau just finds the line with a forehand strike for 15-0.

18:38Nielsen is receiving medical treatment. He appeared to strain his wrist earlier, but it doesn't seem to have affected his game. It has now been bandaged up, and hopefully won't have any bearing on the outcome of today's final.

18:37Should Lindstedt and Tecau lose this, it will be their third Wimbledon final defeat on the bounce, a record they will no doubt be keen to avoid!

18:36More expert serving from Marray clinches the game for 3-2.

18:3540-15 to Marray and Nielsen with the Brit serving.

18:34And a volley from the Swede secures the game for 2-2.

18:33Lindstedt rifles in a 90mph serve for 30-0, then adds an ace for 40. No danger of a break here.

18:29Lovely backhand chip for Nielsen during his service game to make it 30-30. He and Marray go on to take the game for 2-1. And we're at one set each if you've just joined us.

18:27Lindstedt smashes home a vicious volley to dispel any fears of another break. That makes it 1-1 in the third set.

18:26Tecau's turn to serve now, and Marray and Nielsen are getting some good returns in. It's 30-30 now, and the favourites are being made to work for this game.

18:24The Brit isn't sitting back on his laurels, though, taking the next four points to claim the first game of the third.

18:23Marray concedes the first double-fault of the match. That's the last thing he wanted to do after the unseeded duo had just levelled the match.

18:19SET! Lindstedt/Tecau 6-4 4-6 Marray/Nielsen Marray and Nielsen are making a lot more returns now, and a forehand drive from the Dane proved the decisive one to level the match at one set all.

18:18Lovely tennis from Marray and Nielsen to take the advantage. That was the best rally we've had so far, and the two players looked well on the same wavelength.

18:17A good return from Marray, but he can't reach Tecau's forehand. And here we are at deuce.

18:16Break opportunity for Marray and Nielsen goes begging, but they have another shot at it with the score at 40-30.

18:14It's been short, snappy tennis so far, but we've just had a nine-stroke rally. 15-15 now.

18:13We're at 5-4 now and Lindstedt is serving to stay in the set!

18:12Tecau holds to 15 as serves continue to dominate the match. It's 4-4 in the second set now.

18:07Marray's in great serving rhythm, recording his first ace during another clean sweep. Great response from the Brit. 4-3!

18:06We've seen some great serving from both teams, but the returns have been wanting. That's where this match will be won and lost.

18:05Lindstedt's serve is looking solid. Marray is unable to return any of them as he and Nielsen find themselves on the wrong end of a whitewash. It's three games apiece in the second set.

18:03Nielsen converts, but that was a tough service game for the Dane, who looks somewhat shaky. Nonetheless, they're 3-2 up in the set with it all to play for.

18:02But they hold on in there for deuce, and Nielsen lands them an advantage.

18:01Marray and Nielsen could be in trouble here. Their opponents have another break point at 40-30!

18:00Nielsen serves up the first ace of the match, but Lindstedt and Tecau have hit back and it's 30-30.

17:59A majestic volley from Lindstedt makes it 40-30 and he and his opponent go on to take the game, levelling the set at 2-2.

17:58Maybe, a double-fault puts them 30-15 to the good.

17:57Tecau is serving now and it's 15-15. Marray and Nielsen are yet to record their first break point. Could this be it?

17:54More flawless serving from Marray who secures the game without dropping a single point. We're at 2-1 in the second set, but the Brit and the Dane are one set down.

17:53Nielsen strikes the net when returning a Lindstedt drive. The duo fail to convert their break and its one game apiece in the second set.

17:52It goes begging as a Tecau volley make it deuce.

17:51Marray and Nielsen have the chance to break at 40-30!

17:51Lindstedt, who is serving, fires the ball across court but can only put the return out. It's 30-30 at present.

17:49Great teamwork between the Dane and the Brit, but the ball falls awkwardly for Nielsen, who scuffs his shot.

17:48Nielsen catches Tecau out with a quick forehand for 40-30, and goes on to claim the game. Marray and Nielsen lead the second set.

17:46Nielsen gets the second set underway, ad immediately runs into trouble. They were 30-0 down, but have now drawn level.

17:45SET! Lindstedt/Tecau 6-4 Marray/Nielsen Tecau's serve holds firm as he and his partner drop only one point in the first set's decisive game.

17:43Lindstedt smashes a volley straight down the centre for 30-15. He miss-hit the shot and was fortunate.

17:42Tecau to serve now - Nielsen manages a successful return for 15-0. His first of the game!

17:40Great service game from Marray as he and Nielsen drop only one point to reduce the deficit to 5-4.

17:39Lindstedt and Tecau consolidate the break as a Nielsen lob goes skyward. It's up to Marray to keep them in the set now as he steps up to serve.

17:38Lindstedt's serve is holding solid, putting him and his partner 40-0 up. No sign of their opponents breaking back just yet.

17:36Break! Lindstedt powers in a lethal return to take the first break of the match at the second time of asking. They're 4-3 up now. How will their opponents respond?

17:34The pressure is on Marray and Nielsen now as two errors from the Dane hands their opponents a break point at 40-0.

17:33Tecau's serve holds as Nielsen over-hits the return to send it out. It's 3-3 in the first set, and we cannot see where a break is going to come from.

17:32An unstoppable volley from Lindstedt levels the game at 15-15. That could have taken Marray's head off!

17:31Lindstedt to serve now - he double faults to hand his opponents a 15-0 lead.

17:30And Marray and Nielsen now lead three games to two as the Brit's serve holds thanks to another great smash from the Dane.

17:29Nice play from Nielsen who wins the point with a why forehand for 30-15.

17:28All for men hold serve as the fourth game rounds off. It's two games apiece here in what is looking like an equally-matched encounter.

17:27Tecau fired one straight between his opponents for 30-15, but they soon level the game.

17:25It's 2-1 to Marray and Nielsen now. A few points were hard fought, but they manage to hold their serve.

17:23Lindstedt and Tecau find themselves 30-15 up as Marray forces the ball narrowly out. On lucky on the Brit's part there.

17:21A Tecau serve is returned into the net by Marray to hand his opponents the set. It's one game apiece here.

17:19It's 30-15 to Marray and Nielsen as the Dane drills one down the line. A lively opening set!

17:17First games goes to Marray and Nielsen to make it 1-0. The Brit would have liked to have recorded a few more aces, but will no doubt settle for the result.

17:16Lindstedt drills in a forehand volley, which deceives Nielsen to level the score.

17:15And it's 30-15 to Marray and Nielsen as Tecau scuffs a return serve.

17:14We're under way here. And Marray serves to start us off.

17:12Nielsen is the first Dane to make it to a Wimbledon final. He is the grandson of the late Kurt Nielsen, who was regarded as the greatest tennis player to come out of the Scandinavian country.

17:08Lindstedt and Tecau are the favourites on paper, with more experience behind them than their opponents, but Marray and Nielsen have thrived as underdogs in the tournament so far.

17:07And the doubles contenders have stepped out onto Centre Court. It shouldn't be too long until we are back under way.

16:57Here's what Marray had to say ahead of the clash: "Winning a trophy at Wimbledon is why I play tennis. That is what I dreamed of when I was growing up so for it to come true would be the pinnacle of my career." (Thanks to The Observer for that quote)

16:55The duo booked their place in the final after defeated 11-time grand slam champions Mike and Bob Bryan on Friday. A massive upset!

16:52Marray, who is making his Centre Court debut, is the first Briton to make it to the men's doubles final in 52 years. No pressure for the UK hopeful then!

16:50Great Britain's Jonathan Marray will take to Centre Court alongside his partner Freddie Neilsen as they clash with Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau.

16:46We'll see more of Serena later when she contests the women's doubles alongside her sister Venus, but next up is the men's doubles final!

16:41A well-deserved victory overall, but credit should go to Radwanska for clawing her way back into the game. She looked dead and buried early into the second set, but fought back to make it a contest.

16:40And the Duke of Kent will present the Venus Rosewater dish to Williams, who is celebrating with her family!

16:37Serena Williams sends a backhand passing shot down the line to secure the final set and claim her fifth Wimbledon singles title!

16:35GAME SET AND MATCH Williams 6-1 5-7 6-2 Radwanska

16:34Anmother trademark Williams serve puts her 40-15 up, and the title is in touching distance!

16:33Radwanska is going down without a fight! It's 15-15 as another rally ends with Williams striking the net.

16:31Break! Williams fires in a drop-shot winner after taking the advantage. It's 5-2 in her favour now, and she's about to serve for the tournament!

16:29Another contender for rally of the day there. The two powered shots back and forth until a let deceived Williams, causing her to slice the ball out. Deuce!

16:28And the tournament, we should add.

16:27Radwanska has faltered twice in her service game her, putting her 30-0 down. Should she lose this, Williams will have two opportunities to serve for the match.

16:26She gets there in the end, though, wrong-footing her opponent to go 4-2 up. Radwanska, who needs to break twice now, has a mountain to climb.

16:25But she falters for 40-15, failing to lift her shot high enough to lift it over the net.

16:24Williams looks set to serve up another storm here. We've had two aces already in this game and it's 40-0.

16:21Break! Radwanska gets to the ball at full stretch but can only direct it out to hand Williams the first break of the final set.

16:21And she has the opportunity to do that, making it 40-30 with a vicious forehand.

16:20It's all square at 30-30, and if anyone looks like forcing a break in this set, it's Williams.

16:18Radwanska does well to reach one of William's cross-court slices, but can only steer the ball out for 15-15.

16:17And it's a clean sweep for the American, levelling the final set at 2-2. Radwanska stood no chance!

16:16Bright start for Williams in her service game. One of her trademark aces makes it 15-0.

16:14The Pole takes the game to make it 2-1 in the final set. Williams blasts the ball out to her left to gift Radwanska the final point.

16:13Both go begging as a tenacious Radwanska forces two errors from Williams. We're at deuce!

16:13It's 40-15 to Williams now, and she has two shots at a break point!

16:11Great tennis from both players! We've just had a fantastic rally with lobs flying in from both ends. Williams takes the point to make it 15-15 with a forehand smash.

16:09She must be kicking herself for releasing her stranglehold on the match, but she looked solid in her service game, clinching it with a nice ground stroke to level the set at 1-1.

16:07Williams maintains her composure during another thrilling rally to place the ball past Radwanska for 15-15.

16:06The first game of the final set goes to Radwanska, but she had to battle tooth and nail to hold onto her serve there. Something more will be needed if she wants to break Williams in the next game.

16:04The chance goes begging!

16:02Radwanska is serving in the opening game of the third set, and Williams has the chance to break with an advantage at deuce.

16:01The Pole looked dead and buried early in the second set, but she's weathered the storm now. It's important for Williams to do the same early in the second set, and shake off those nerves that appear to have gotten to her.

15:58SET! Radwanska 1-6 7-5 Williams Wonderful determination from Radwanska who has really raised her game in the second set to take it 7-5.

15:57Williams is down 30-0 in her service set after a sloppy double-fault. Is the big American running out of steam. We hope not, for her sake, as she has that doubles final later on this evening.

15:55Make that 6-5 Radwanska as she makes a clean sweep of her service game. She's getting into her stride now, and if she manages to break Williams again, we could really have a game on our hands.

15:54All square in the second set at 5-5.

15:53Williams takes the game after coaxing her opponent to front centre, before wrong footing her with a forehand drive.

15:51Powerful ground stokes put Williams 40-15 up in her service set, and you wouldn't bet against her holding firm.

15:48And the Pole's serve holds in the next game. She has her nose in front at 5-4 now, and Williams has to serve to stay in the set.

15:47Break! Yes! Radwanska breaks to level the set at 4-4. And suddenly we have a game on our hands!

15:43She's created her first break point chance now. Can she capitalise?

15:43She's created her first break point chance now. Can she capitalise?

15:42Great rally there and a well-fought point for Radwanska. A double-handed backhand smash from the Pole puts us back at deuce.

15:41We're locked at deuce now. Williams disputes one of her aces, but Hawk-eye says it was in to give her the advantage.

15:39Williams's serve clocks in at 120mph, just to give you an idea what Radwanska is up against here.

15:3830-15 to Williams thanks to sloppy play from her opponent. She completely misjudged a placed forehand and sent the ball out.

15:37To stand any chance in this game, though, she needs to break that mighty serve.

15:35And Radwanska takes her service set to reduce the deficit to to 4-3.

15:34A perfectly-place backhand from Williams makes it 30-15 in her favour. Another moment of magic there from the Pole, but she needs to play more tennis of this calibre.

15:33It's been a more competent display from Radwanska in the second set, but she's still chasing the game and looks out-gunned.

15:32Williams serve holds as she fires home another unstoppable ace to make it four games to two in the second set.

15:31Radwanska is stranded in no man's land as Williams places a precise shot off to her left to level the scores.

15:30Williams bites back with a clean backhand to make it 30-15. That was perhaps one of the points of the match.

15:28Radwanska is looking for aggressive now, forcing two errors from Williams to take a 30-0 lead in the next game.

15:26A strong service game from Radwanska there. She took all but one of the points on offer to make the score 3-2.

15:23Williams's serve holds to put her 3-1 up in the second set. This is a disappointingly one-sided encounter.

15:22It's 40-30 Williams as Radwanska's backhand crashes into the net. The Pole is looking more tenacious than before, but you wouldn't bet against her breaking Williams.

15:20A glorious forehand chip puts Radwanska 15-0. That's why she's ranked at third in the world. A few more like that and she might just find her way back into this.

15:19Break! And she takes the game to lead 2-1 in the second set.

15:18There could be an early break on here for Williams, who had just slammed cross-court for 40-0.

15:16It's one game apiece now, though, as Radwanska's forehand falters. The American's serve looks unbreakable.

15:15Here comes that thunderous Williams serve again though. She flies into a 40-0 lead, but puts in a good return to make it 40-15.

15:13The Pole takes the first game of the second set. She's still looking shaky, but less so. Getting her nose in front for the first time will no doubt fire her up.

15:12Radwanska to serve in the first game of the second set. She storms into a 30-0 lead as Williams struggles to keep the ball in.

15:06The players are heading back onto Centre Court now and the roof stays open. The second set is coming up.

15:03If you've just joined us, it's Williams 6-1 Radwanska. The American powered through the first set with a confident performance. Radwanska needs to up the ante here if she wants to stand any chance of clawing her way back into the match.

14:58The covers are coming off now, and play should be back under way soon.

14:54Williams's status as favourite appears to be apt based on what we saw in the first set. She's firing on all cylinders, and looks lethal when serving. Radwanska doesn't appear to have fully recovered from that bout of illness.

14:52Officials are waiting to see whether this will be anything more than a passing shower before they make a decision about whether to put the roof up.

14:50Good old British weather! I only found out that Fifty Shades of Grey is a book the other day. I thought it was the weather forecast for July.

14:48And here comes the rain. Proceedings will be interrupted momentarily. Radwanska will no doubt be the more relived at the chance to take some time to reflect.

14:47SET! Williams 6-1 Radwanska Williams serves up a storm to take the first set at the third time of asking. An ace at the end was the cherry on top!

14:43The Pole takes the game with her second ace of the match. But at 5-1 in the first set she still has it all to do.

14:43The Pole takes the game with her second ace of the match. But at 5-1 in the first set she still has it all to do.

14:42Into third deuce now. Radwanska looking more resilient but she needs to get a game on the board.

14:41Radwanska claws it back to deuce and takes the advantage with a more self-assured serve, her first ace of the match.

14:40Williams is 40-15 up and has two shots at taking the first set now.

14:38Williams looks unstoppable. She's 15-0 up now after a decent rally which had Radwanska sprinting from one end of the court to the other.

14:36No signs of Williams's serve faltering here as she belts a cross-court shot in to take the fifth game with her fifth ace of the match.

14:33Break Williams breaks for the second time in the set to go four games to love up as Radwanska lashes her serve out. It's all one-way traffic here.

14:32After taking the next point, she double faults for deuce. A nervy performance from the Pole who desperately needs to get a game on the board.

14:3130-30 here now, and Radwanska is not looking comfortable.

14:30Radwanska goes 15-0 up in her service set. Williams could only get to the ball on its second bounce, skidding to the ground in the process.

14:27Williams leads three games to love now. She took the advantage with a powerful overhead slam before claiming the game with a lovely drop shot.

14:26Radwanska takes it to deuce as she bids to break back, forcing the error from Williams who drives into the net from close range.

14:25Williams is now 40-15 up in her service game, and is looking self-assured.

14:21Break Williams goes two games up as Radwanska's forehand drops just wide. That was furious game, clocking in at around nine minutes.

14:19Great play by Radwanska to take the advantage. Catches her opponent out with a cheeky lob.

14:18We have a hard fought game here on our hands here. Third deuce!

14:17Second deuce now. Williams misdirects a forehand slice to bring us back to a deadlock.

14:16Deuce. A double-handed backhand from Radwanska catches Williams out.

14:1540-30 Williams, and the American has the chance for an early break.

14:1430-15 Williams in the second game. Great rally there, which came to an end when a Radwanska lob ended up narrowly out.

14:12Williams takes the first game. Radwanska looks like she's going to struggle against that mighty serve.

14:1230-15 Williams now, both players have struck the net. No sign of any rallies so far.

14:11And she makes a confident start, going 15-0 up. Radwanska returned to initial serve but couldn't reach the return.

14:10We're under way. Williams to serve.

14:06Great to see a packed Centre Court here. The roof is open with no sign of the rainy conditions that have affected previous rounds. Not that they'd be an issue on Centre Court in any case.

14:00Head-to-head, Williams has the better record, beating her opponent on both previous occasions. One of those came at Wimbledon in 2008 at the quarter-final stage.

13:58The umpire is out on Centre Court now, and the players are about to follow.

13:56Radwanska shouldn't be underestimated, though. She's a technically gifted player and has had been in great form of late.

13:55Williams's legendary serve could be the difference between these two. Her power and accuracy is enough to take most opponents apart.

13:52Radwanska: "I will do whatever it takes to make sure I'm ready to play the best I can. She's playing amazing tennis at the moment. I don't really have much to lose, so I'm going to try my best and we'll see. (Thanks BBC)

13:51Williams: "Agnieszka has had a better year than I have. She's been way more consistent than me. She's done really well, so she's ranked higher than me. She deserves to be.

I have to go out there and fight for this. This is by no means going to be easy. Never, ever do I underestimate any opponent."

13:50Some pre-match comments from both players coming up...

13:48Radwanska is actually ranked above Williams, but there definitely a sense of her being the underdog. For what it's worth, we think Williams will edge it today.

13:43She didn't look in great shape on Friday when she had to pull out of that press conference, but by all accounts she is back on form.

13:39There are a lot of factors to take into account in the first of this afternoon's finals. Third seed Radwanska has shaken off a respiratory illness to make it to the court today. Will that affect her performance?

13:38You can read our preview of the match here.

13:36Radwanska is making her Grand Slam final debut, and can top the world rankings with victory here today. But Williams's has her own milestone to aim for - matching her sister Venus's achievement of five singles titles.

13:34First up, it's the women's final in which Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska goes up against the raw power of one of the game's all time greats, Serena Williams.

13:30Good afternoon, what a day of tennis we have ahead of us! Hopefully you're all recovered from yesterday's Andy Murray-related excitement and are ready for today's Centre Court offerings.
