Result: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga passes Sergei Bubka test

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has defeated Sergei Bubka in straight sets 6-3 7-5 6-2 to reach round three of the US Open in New York.

The Frenchman was untroubled for much of the first set, clinching it 6-3.

Bubka fought back in the second, making Tsonga work to extend his advantage, which he did by winning the set 7-5.

The number 11 seed again found little resistance from the Russian in the third, taking the set 6-2.
