David Ferrer hails 'best ever' season after Lleyton Hewitt victory

David Ferrer has claimed that he is having his best season yet following Sunday's victory over Lleyton Hewitt at the US Open.

The Spaniard, who has won five ATP titles this year, saw off the Australian in four sets to book his place in the fourth round.

"I'm having the best season of my career and I think it's the right time," said the 30-year-old.

Ferrer will meet either 13th seed Richard Gasquet or wildcard Steve Johnson for a place in the quarter-finals.
