Andy Murray: 'I need to rest and recover after US Open campaign'

British number one Andy Murray admits that his US Open campaign has left him feeling exhausted.

Andy Murray has admitted that he is in need of a rest after crashing out of the US Open to number 15 seed Kevin Anderson in the fourth round.

The Scot was knocked out of the tournament 7-6 6-3 6-7 7-6, and will now spend a few days recuperating ahead of Great Britain's Davis Cup clash with Australia next weekend.

"I'm not a machine. My body hurts," he told reporters.

"I was just trying to fight my way right through to the end and make it as difficult for him as possible. I'm proud of the way I did that.

"At least now I have some extra days where I can actually take a proper break for three or four days and let myself rest and recover."

Britain can book a place in their first Davis Cup final since 1978 by defeating Australia in Glasgow.
