Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary from day four of the US Open at Flushing Meadows, New York.
The big story yesterday was Laura Robson's surprise victory over the retiring Kim Clijsters, while it was a good day for the Brits elsewhere as Andy Murray saw off Ivan Dodig to book his place in the third round.
There are a number of second and third-round matches in the Big Apple today featuring the likes of Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska.
Please note that play is due to start at 4pm.
5.27amThe action gets underway from 4pm - don't be late! Until then.
5.26amThis is also the end of my stint providing commentary on the tournament. Thanks for logging on for the past four days and please come back tomorrow for all the action from day five.
5.23amSo day four at Flushing Meadows comes to a close with a tinge of disappointment for the home crowd.
5.22amVenus Williams's US Open challenge comes to an end at the hands of Angelique Kerber. However, it was far from an angelic match. Unforced errors aplenty.
Williams 2-6 7-5 5-6* KerberVenus wins the point after coming to the net once again. She has has a fair amount of success there this evening.
Williams 2-6 7-5 *4-2 KerberBrilliant point. Kerber took control and came to the net. Venus couldn't pass her and the German has the chance to break back.
Williams 2-6 7-5 *2-2 KerberKerber threw in a couple of strange shots there. Lobs from the baseline out of nowhere. She nearly fooled Venus on the first one but the second was dispatched with gusto.
4.38amI've a feeling that Olga Govortsova, Johanna Konta's conqueror - or Konta-ror if you will - will be licking her lips at the prospect of playing either of these two ladies. Although I can't envisige them playing this badly... ever again.
Williams 2-6 7-5 1-0* KerberKerber has definitely dropped her levels in the last 20 minutes or so. She wasn't playing that great before that, really. That has coincided with Venus getting slightly better.
4.22amSET! Williams 2-6 7-5 Kerber
Williams 2-6 6-5* KerberSaved! Kerber brings Venus to the net with a drop shot before clipping it past her into the open court.
Williams 2-6 4-5* KerberThe net - sorry Kerber - breaks for a seventh time. She will now serve for the match. Easier said than done, it would seem.
Williams 2-6 *4-4 KerberThere are forlorn expressions all around Venus's box. Mother Williams is wearing shades and could well be asleep.
Williams 2-6 3-4* KerberKerber's forehand sails just wide of the target, giving Venus two break points. It's the start of the first set all over again.
Williams 2-6 3-4* KerberKerber breaks. Venus left the door wide open for the German then and she duly obliged by putting away the approach shot. Venus dollied it up with a tame volley.
3.38amKerber is getting her heel/ankle re-taped.
Williams 2-6 *2-2 KerberNo mistake at the net this time by Venus. Although she needs two bites at the cherry to put away the smash. It looks as though Kerber has asked for the trainer.
Williams 2-6 1-2* KerberDrop shot from Kerber brings Venus into the net. The American fails to put away the volley and powers a smash into the net. Calamity.
Williams 2-6 *0-2 KerberVenus's first-serve percentage is not going to make for an entertaining read. I bet she'll be horrified. Deuce.
Williams 2-6 *0-2 KerberWell... Venus has just thumped an overhead smash way wide. There's not much to be said for that.
Williams 2-6 0-1* KerberVenus has just hit possibly the widest backhand I have ever seen. It wasn't even close, especially from her position on the court.
3.05amSET! Williams 2-6 Kerber
Williams 2-5* KerberGreat point! Venus was dragging Kerber all over the place there but hits a volley into the net. Set point.
Williams 2-5* KerberVenus flashes another forehand past Kerber, but still trails 30-15 in this game.
Williams 2-5* KerberDouble fault. Broken for a fourth game. Six points on her own serve. Poor stuff from a great champion.
Williams *2-4 KerberVenus leaves a deep ball which drops on the line. You get the feeling that this just isn't going to be her night.
Williams *2-4 KerberDouble fault. This has been truly sloppy tennis so far - from both women. Venus just a little more...
Williams *2-4 KerberHOLD! Okay, I'll stop being sarcastic now. But once again, the net cord came into play there, helping Kerber once more.
Williams 2-3* KerberKerber hits a forehand and Venus doesn't seem to chase it. It wasn't out her reach, by any means.
Williams 2-3* KerberKerber breaks. Well, Venus hands it to her. If they don't hit it into the net or out, they're hitting the net cord. Loosen up, ladies...
Williams *2-2 KerberVenus can't buy a first serve at the moment. However, a booming forehand saves one break point.
Williams *2-2 KerberA third double fault gives Kerber three break points. Does no-one want to hold their serve?
Williams 0-1* KerberKerber fires out, but Venus double faults on the next point to hand the German the break.
2.31amKerber defeated Anne Keothavong in the first round, while Venus overcame Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
2.16amSo next up tonight is Venus Williams vs. Angelique Kerber. It has all the ingredients for a classic encounter.
2.12amFederer: "He got the last laugh - he beat me in Miami this year!"
2.11amFederer (on Roddick): "Oh man, he's a great man. I've had some great battles with him. I've known him a long, long time. The Wimbledon finals come to mind when we've played each other, but he was a great, great competitor and a great champion."
2.08amFederer: "That last shot [from Phau] was ridiculous" - see, I told you! Even the great man himself thinks so!
2.08amFederer: "It was a great match for me. Bjorn played well, he did some incredible shot-making."
2.06amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Federer 6-2 6-3 6-2 Phau An ace to finish for the world number one and he will now face Fernando Verdasco in the next round.
Federer 6-2 6-3 *5-2 PhauShot of the match from... Phau! He uses a defensive lob and Federer smashes it. However, it is returned with interest before Federer can even blink.
Federer 6-2 6-3 *2-1 PhauFederer out-thinks Phau with a superb volley. The German was coming in expecting the drop volley but Federer pushes it to the baseline. Genius.
Federer 6-2 6-3 2-0* PhauThe American commentators are clearly having a giggle with Roger Federer's dad, as they keep panning to him in the box. A proud man, he must be. His son holds his serve.
1.38amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Wang 4-6 6-4 4-6 4-6 Simon The Frenchman has booked his place in the third round at Flushing Meadows.
1.37amSET! Federer 6-2 6-3 Phau
1.36amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Konta 6-2 2-6 5-7 Govortsova Konta exits the tournament. It's all on you now, Laura...
1.33amUPDATE: Konta is now serving to stay in the match after failing to serve it out. Simon is serving for a place in the third round on court 13.
1.32amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Bertens 7-5 2-6 5-7 Puchkova
Federer 6-2 5-2* PhauFederer holds... and smiles on court! In the middle of a match! What's going on here?!
Federer 6-2 *4-2 PhauFederer quickly drags it back to 30-30. When under pressure, he just seems to speed up and that is throwing Phau off. He is a fairly quick player anyway. Opposite tactics to a certain someone...
Federer 6-2 *4-2 PhauGreat passing shot from Phau! Federer stretched, but couldn't stretch far enough. Maybe if he was on Armstrong...
Federer 6-2 *2-2 PhauAlmost there from Phau! Federer comes to the net and they engage in an exchange before the German goes for the lob that sails just too long.
1.15amBREAK! Konta 6-2 2-6 *5-2 Govortsova The Brit will serve for the match!
Federer 6-2 1-0* PhauA double fault means that Phau will not get a flawless hold of serve, if he holds at all that is...
1.13amBREAK! Wang 4-6 6-4 4-6 3-2* Simon the Frenchman has broken back and it's on serve on court 13.
1.08amSET! Federer 6-2 *0-0 Phau Federer takes the first set in 32 minutes. He had no such troubles at the net this time. Phau did, however...
Federer 5-2* PhauGreat play from Federer, dragging Phau across the court. Set point for the Swiss.
Federer 5-2* PhauPhau is running down everything. Federer hasn't quite hit his stride yet, but this is only the first set of the second round. There's time... 30-30
1.05amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Duchevina -6 1-6 Errani The Italian wins through to the next round, where she will face the winner between Konta and Govortsova.
1.04amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Granollers 1-6 4-6 2-6 Blake The American delights the home crowd and books a place against Canada's Milos Raonic in the third round. Should be a good 'un!
Federer 5-2* PhauRapid game from the Swiss. He is one game from taking the first set.
1.03amUPDATE: Wang is a break up in the fourth set over Simon. Givortsova has got one of the breaks back against Konta. Puchkova is a break up against Bertens in that deciding set. Errani is one set from victory over Dushevina.
Federer 4-1* PhauThe German gets it to deuce. He played an excellent approach shot into the net.
Federer 4-1* PhauSuperb backhand from Phau. He took it on the rise and dispatched it expertly.
12.56amBREAK! Konta 6-2 2-6 *3-0 Govortsova Double break!
12.55amBREAK! Granollers 1-6 4-6 2-3* Blake The American is closing in on a second-round tie against Milos Raonic.
Federer *3-1 PhauFederer works the angle before coming into the net to end the point. Great play from the world number one.
Federer *3-1 PhauBig serve from Federer when he needs it most. How often does he do that?
Federer *3-1 PhauFederer comes into the net but his volley finds the net. Chance for Phau. 15-30.
12.49amBREAK! Bertens 7-5 2-1* Puchkova
12.49amBREAK! Konta 6-2 2-6 *1-0 Govortsova An early break for the Brit in the third set.
12.45amBREAK! Bertens 7-5 2-6 *2-0 Puchkova
12.43amSET! Wang 4-6 6-4 4-6 Simon Ha, what a funny name. Simon? That's supposed to be a first name!
12.39amOkay, we're now focusing on Ashe and Federer's second-round match with Phau. Let's go...
12.38amSET! Bertens 7-5 2-6 Puchkova This one will also go three sets.
12.37amSET! Dushevina 0-6 Errani The Italian has whitewashed the first set.
12.35amSET! Konta 6-2 2-6 Govortsova Konta drops serve in the next game and that will go into a decider on court seven.
12.32amBREAK! Konta 6-2 *2-5 Govortsova That's one break back for the Brit. Can she mount a comeback in the second set to clinch her place in the next round?
12.27amGAME, SET AND MATCH! Ramos [4]6-7 7-5 [5]6-7 4-6 Verdasco
12.26amBREAK! Dushevina 0-3* Errani And the Italian gets the double break over on Grandstand.
12.24amSET! Granollers 1-6 4-6 *0-0 Blake
12.23amBlake to serve for a two-set lead...
12.22amFernando Verdasco has broken in the fourth set in another all-Spanish clash against Albert Ramos. He is now serving for the match.
12.19am10th seed Sara Errani and Vera Dushevina are underway on Grandstand. The Italian has the early break in that one.
12.18amIf Konta can get through in that one, she will face the winner between Venus and Kerber in the next round. If...
12.17amJohanna Konta is currently receiving treatment on a leg injury. She leads by one set against Govortsova, but she is a break down in the second.
12.15amBREAK! Granollers 1-6 3-4* Blake More good news for America as James Blake breaks in the second set.
12.09amBut the show must go on. And with that, Sam Querrey has beaten Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo in straight sets to book his place in the next round. So cheer up America!
12.05amFirstly, I'd just like to say that, on a personal level, I'm sad to see Andy Roddick retiring. The time is probably right, but he has been great for the sport. He has stepped slightly over the mark sometimes, but he plays with passion and you expect that sort of thing from anyone of his ilk.
12.05amThank you Jack. It's been a blast.
12.01amAnyway, that's enough rabbitting on from me for tonight. I'll hand you over to the ever-funny Michael Penkman who will take you through the rest of the evening's play.
11.58pmWell, that was about as routine as it gets for Tomas Berdych, who will take on either Sam Querrey or Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo in round three.
11.57pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Berdych 6-1 6-4 6-2 Zopp
Berdych 6-1 6-4 *5-2 ZoppZopp gives himself the teeniest tiniest bit of hope with a hold but Berdych will now serve for the match. I'm just trying to be optimistic on the Estonian's behalf.
Berdych 6-1 6-4 5-1* ZoppJust as I was getting that information down Berdych held without hardly breaking a set. He's just a game away from the next round now.
11.41pmSET! Ramos-Vinolas 6-7[4] 7-5 6-7[5] Verdasco
Berdych 6-1 6-4 *3-0 ZoppZopp whacks a forehand long and Berdych has another break. He paces back to his chair with the look of a man who has plans elsewhere this evening.
11.38pmBritain's Johanna Konta has got off to a cracking start in her match against Olga Govortsova as she takes the opening set 6-2.
Berdych 6-1 6-4 2-0* ZoppThere's no letting up from Berdych here as he holds to go 2-0 in front. He'll certainly be looking to have a good run at Flushing Meadows following his poor grasscourt season.
11.36pmBy the way, Serena Williams reward for beating Martinez Sanchez is a match with Ekaterina Makarova in the third round.
11.33pmRight, onwards and upwards for us as we head over to Court 11 to watch sixth seed Tomas Berdych take on Estonia's Jurgen Zopp. Berdycxh currently leads 6-1 6-4 1-0 and is about to serve. This one shouldn't take long but we'll dip into it anyway.
11.28pmMartinez Sanchez makes the error and Serena seals a place in round three. The Spaniard proved tricky in that second set but the fourth seed goes through without too much trouble.
11.27pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! S Williams 6-2 6-4 Martinez Sanchez
Martinez Sanchez 2-6 *4-5 WilliamsMartinez Sanchez can barely live with Serena's powerful groundstrokes from the baseline and the fourth seed holds to put her just a game away from the third round.
11.18pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Stephens 5-7 6-4 6-2 Malek
11.17pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Mathieu 4-7 4-6 6-7[4] Raonic
11.08pmYou can follow the Roddick story with us right here. It's a biggie, that's for sure.
11.06pmAndy Roddick called a press conference about 20 minutes ago and has since announced that this year's US Open will be his last tournament. Rumours had been circulating for some time that he was considering retirement and today he has announced his intention to do just that. Still quite a shock.
11.05pmBREAKING NEWS: Andy Roddick to retire at the end of the US Open
10.04pmSome huge breaking news coming up...
Martinez Sanchez 2-6 2-2* WilliamsBREAK! Oh deary me. Martinez Sanchez double faults THREE times to hand Williams the break and we're back on serve. She looks furious to say the least.
10.41pmIt's taken 35 minutes for Serena Williams to take the opening set in this one. She takes set point on Martinez Sanchez's serve with a powerful crosscourt backhand. This looks to be going only one way.
10.40pmSET! S Williams 6-2 Martinez Sanchez
10.37pmSET! Querrey 6-3 Ramirez-Hidalgo
10.33pmSET! Ramos-Vinolas 6-7[4] 7-5 Verdasco
Martinez Sanchez *2-5 WilliamsJust as I say that Williams gets the advantage before slamming a forehand winner past the Spaniard to hold. Martinez Sanchez serving to stay in this opening set now.
10.31pmMartinez Sannchez isn't letting this service game go. She's failed to take four break points but it's a deuce again following an error by Serena.
10.28pmMartinez Sanchez has two break point but squanders both of them as Serena brings it back to deuce. That could be costly.
10.24pmJeremy Chardy, who recently beat Andy Murray in Cincinnati, will now face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's conqueror Martin Klizan after defeating Matthew Ebden.
10.23pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Chardy 6-4 6-2 6-2 Ebden
10.19pmTypical Serena - blink and you'll miss it. She's already 4-1 ahead in the opening set having just held. Is there any stopping her?
10.16pmAnyway, as promised earlier, we will now be turning our focus onto Serena Williams's second-round match with Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain.
10.13pmMarin Cilic fires down an ace to seal the win and avoid what would have been another shock at these already turbulent championships. It wasn't convinving by a long shot but he's into the third round and will next face 17th seed Kei Nishikori.
10.11pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Cilic 6-3 6-2 5-7 4-6 7-5 Brands
10.06pmMeanwhile, Serena Williams has started her second-round match against the Spaniard Maria Jose Martina Sanchez. A nice short name.
Cilic 6-3 6-2 5-7 4-6 5-5* BrandsCilic holds to put the pressure back on the German. Remember there are final-set tie-breaks here at the US Open so we could have a conclusion to this one sooner rather than later.
9.58pmActually, change of plan. We're heading to court 13 where Marin Cilic is battling out a fifth set with Daniel Brands of Germany. It's 5-4 to Brands with Cilic to serve.
9.52pmRight, stick with us here because we'll be following Serena Williams's second-round match with Maria Jose Martina Sanchez of Spain.
9.50pmRadwanska will now face Jelena Jankovic in the third round.
9.49pmSET! Chardy 6-4 6-2 Ebden
9.48pmThat was tougher than most of us were expecting but Agnieszka Radwanska sees off Carla Suarez Navarro to book her place in the third round of the US Open. Both women played some great tennis throughout that contest but Suarez Navarro waned at the end and the second seed ruthlessly sealed the win.
9.46pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Radwanska 4-6 6-3 6-0 Suarez Navarro
Radwanska 4-6 6-3 *5-0 Suarez NavarroBREAK! This one is all but over as Radwanska breaks again. Suarez Navarro looks beat now and it's a real shame because she has played some wonderful tennis today.
9.41pmMardy Fish comes back from two sets down for only the second time in his career to beat Nikolay Davydenko.
9.40pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Fish 4-6 6-7[4] 6-2 6-1 6-2 Davydenko
Radwanska 4-6 6-3 *3-0 Suarez NavarroBREAK! A grinding game ends with Suarez Navarro hitting the net and dropping serve. Surely it's only a matter of time now for Radwanska to wrap this up.
9.31pmSET! Ramos-Vinolas 6-7[4] Verdasco
Radwanska 4-6 6-3 *1-0 Suarez NavarroBREAK! Radwanska is in full sniper mode now, picking off Suarez Navarro with some clinical tennis. The Spaniard is broken instantly to hand the second seed the initiative.
9.24pmRight, we'll be having a one-set shootout in this match then. Suarez Navarro to serve first.
9.21pmSET! Shvedova 6-3 5-7 Vinci
9.20pmSET! Radwanska 4-6 6-3 Suarez Navarro
Radwanska 4-6 *5-3 Suarez NavarroBREAK! Superb from Radwanska as she hits a backhand on the turn to force Suarez Navarro into the error. The second seed will serve for the second set. It's looking ominous.
Radwanska 4-6 2-3* Suarez NavarroRadwanska shows some guts to save a break point before going on to hold. That was a vital game for the second seed. Suarez Navarros showed some nerves as she closed out the first set and the pressure will be more intense this time around as she looks to win the match and claim a major scalp. Can she hold firm?
9.01pmSET! Fish 4-6 6-7[4] 6-2 6-1 Davydenko
9.01pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Begu 4-6 6-7[5] Soler-Espinosa
Radwanska 4-6 1-2* Suarez NavarroBREAK! Things just got a whole lot more interesting as Suarez Navarro breaks to go 2-1 ahead. Radwanska is looking off-key at the moment and hits a backhand into the net to concede the break. Radwanska needs some different ideas and fast.
8.46pmThat one can be filed under 'upset' as American world number 243 Jack Sock takes out world number 85 Flavio Cipolla in three sets. The home crowd will no doubt be going bonkers over that one.
8.44pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Cipolla 2-6 2-6 4-6 Sock
8.44pmIt'll be Radwanska to open serve in this second set.
8.42pmBREAK! It's third time lucky for Suarez Navarro as the Spanish world number 39 takes the first set thanks to a powerful forehand. Actually, scrap that bit about luck, she deserves that set.
8.40pmSET! Cilic 6-3 6-2 5-7 Brands
8.36pmFeliciano Lopez sees off fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar in an epic five-setter and will face Andy Murray in the third round. Judy will be pleased.
8.35pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Andujar 4-6 1-6 7-6[5] 6-3 5-7 Lopez
8.34pmBREAK! Suarez Navarro is giving Radwanska a right run for her money out there and breaks back with a sweeping forehand winner into the corner. She'll now serve for the opening set.
8.31pmSET! Fish 4-6 6-7[4] 6-2 Davydenko
Radwanska *4-4 Suarez NavarroBREAK! Radwanska is doing what she does best - playing patiently from the baseline - and forces the error from Suarez Navarro to break.
8.25pmThere's a lot of movement in the crowd on Grandstand. That's what you've got to love about the US Open - the hustle and bustle. And oversized hotdogs.
Radwanska 3-4* Suarez NavarroSuarez Navarro hits long and Radwanska has the hold. The Spaniard had three break points in that game but couldn't convert any of them.
8.19pmThe final Grand Slam of the year has really heated up in the last couple of days and we're about to continue our coverage over on Grandstand where Agnieszka Radwanska is taking on Carla Suarez Navarro. The Polisj world number two is 4-2 down in the first set. Not another upset, surely?
8.17pmKlizan's previous best at the US Open was being in that second-round match just played but he's booked his place in the third round and will face either Jeremy Chardy or Matthew Ebden.
8.15pmWow. Tsonga hits his return wide and we have quite possibly the upset of the tournament so far. Klizan is ranked number 52 in the world but he has just blown a very under-par Tsonga away.
8.14pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Tsonga 4-6 6-1 1-6 3-6 Klizan
Tsonga 4-6 6-1 1-6 *3-5 KlizanIt's now Tsonga's turn to make the error as he hits his forehand wide. Klizan is just a game away from one of the shocks of the tournament so far.
8.09pmKlizan plants a forehand into the net and it's deuce.
8.07pmThanking you, Liam. Right, I'm all refreshed after my turbo-charged coffee. Let's see if Jo-Wilfried can get himself out of this pickle. He's making a go of it.
8.04pmAnd luckily for you, Jack is back! He'll guide you through the remainder of this one and beyond!
Tsonga 4-6 6-1 1-6 *2-4 KlizanBREAK! Hello! Hang on a minute, Tsonga looks interested. He's claimed one of the breaks back. There's still a long way to go, but we now have a match on our hands.
Tsonga 4-6 6-1 1-6 1-4* KlizanTsonga looks done here! He may have won the game, but some of his shots looked lacking in effort. The crowd were not happy with that either. Big service game for Klizan coming up.
Tsonga 4-6 6-1 1-6 0-3* KlizanBREAK! Oh dear. It's a double break for Klizan, while Tsonga looks shot to bits. It's going to take an almighty turn around for the Frenchman to progress now.
7.47pmSo Mr Tsonga, what have you got in the locker? He trails by two sets to one and 2-0 in the fourth set. Game on.
7.46pmSET! Cilic 6-3 6-2 Brands
7.43pmRight, I'm off to grab a much-needed coffee, so I'll be leaving you in the capable hands of Liam Apicella to guide you through this one. Enjoy!
7.42pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Pironkova 7-5 6-2 Morita
7.41pmSET! Cipolla 2-6 2-6 Sock
Tsonga 4-6 6-1 1-6 0-1* KlizanBREAK! Oh my word. Klizan breaks instantly and Tsonga has it all to do. Are we going to see one of the big shocks on the men's side of the draw?
7.38pmRight, Tsonga will serve to start this third set. It's a set he has to win to stay in the US Open.
7.34pmThis has been a very strange match to say the least and Slovakian world number 52 Klizan has just gone back in front by taking the third set 6-1. He won the first 6-4 but Tsonga took the second 6-1.
7.33pmAnyway, there's no rest for the wicked so we are heading over to Louis Armstrong Stadium to catch fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga take on Martin Klizan.
7.31pmAlmagro's reward for seeing off the German is a match with either Flavio Cipolla or the brilliantly-named Jack Sock.
7.29pmThere it is! He did it the hard way but 11th seed Nicolas Almagro is through to the first round after a gruelling five-setter against Philipp Petzschner.
7.28pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Almagro 6-3 5-7 5-7 6-4 6-4 Petzschner
7.24pmSET! Vesnina 3-6 Makarova
7.18pmSET! Andujar 4-6 1-6 7-6[5] 6-3 Lopez
Almagro 6-3 5-7 5-7 6-4 3-3* PetzschnerAlmagro fights back this time to hold. Both men seem to be at a bit of a deadlock at the moment and it looks like it'll be a mistake rather than some inspiration that will settle this one.
7.10pmSET! Pironkova 7-5 Morita
7.09pmSET! Tsonga 4-6 6-1 Klizan
7.01pmGAME, SET AND MATCH! Voskoboeva 2-6 7-6[3] 3-6 Hlavackova
Almagro 6-3 5-7 5-7 6-4 *1-2 PetzschnerA real see-saw of a game eventually goes Petzschner's way as the German holds. Both players were keen to do their jousting at the net there. Petzschner rather amusingly hit home a winning volley before sitting down in his chair all in one movement. The crowd seem to be on his side now.
Almagro 6-3 5-7 5-7 6-4 1-1* PetzschnerHow frustrating is that for Almagro? Just as he looked to have taken control of the match Petzschner breaks back instantly. One can only imagine what's going through the Spaniard's mind. Something angry, no doubt.
6.51pmElena Vesnina has just started her second-round tie with Ekaterina Makarova.
6.44pmWe will have our fifth set. Almagro seals the set with an audacious smash at the net that sees Petzschner stray almost into the crowd to retrieve...but he can't get near it. The match looks to be coming full circle as the Spaniard is looking in similar control as to what he was at the start of the contest before Petzschner's resurgence.
