Djokovic: 'Murray deserves to be in final'

Novak Djokovic has admitted that Andy Murray deserves to be in the men's final of the Olympics following their semi-final encounter on Friday.

The Brit overcame the Serbian world number two 7-5 7-5 in front of a fevered Centre Court crowd to book his place in Sunday's gold medal match against Roger Federer.

"He played better in the important moments and served extremely well," said Djokovic. "The crowd gave him positive energy and he used that in his favour.

"Practically every service game in the second set I had a chance to break, so it's a disappointing loss. But he deserves to be in the final."

Murray can become the first British male to win a gold medal in the event since 1908 if he defeats Federer on Sunday.
