Florian Mayer gets the best of five-set thriller

Florian Mayer got the best of a five-set thriller against Mikhail Youzhny at the Australian Open.

In a back and forth contest, the German eventually edged out his opponent with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 score in a match that went over three hours.

Earlier in the day, Tomas Berdych breezed through with a straight sets win over Kenny de Schepper.

The victory takes Mayer through to the third round.
