Roger Federer has recorded a straight-sets win over Richard Gasquet to progress through to the Australian Open fourth round.
The defending champion had not needed to get out of second gear to reach the last 32, and that continued on Saturday evening as the Swiss registered a 6-2 7-5 6-4 victory.
Federer secured two breaks of serve to take the opening set and although Gasquet matched him for large parts of the second, a solitary break was enough to move closer to the next round.
Gasquet was rewarded for his persistence in the third as he finally broke Federer's serve but the Frenchman dropped the 10th game - behind his own delivery - and it allowed Federer to seal the win in just under two hours.
Federer will now play Hungary's Marton Fucsovics for a place in the quarter-finals.
