Andy Murray prepared to withdraw from Australian Open due to birth of child

Andy Murray reveals that he is prepared to withdraw from the Australian Open to be present for the birth of his first child.

Andy Murray has revealed that he will drop out of the Australian Open in January if his wife Kim gives birth to the couple's first child.

The British number one has begun preparations for the first Grand Slam of the season, but will quit all tournaments in order to be by his partner's side when she goes into labour.

It is believed that Kim Sears, who married Murray in Scotland eight months ago, is due to give birth in February.

"I'd go home, for sure, yes," Murray told the Daily Mail. "It's obviously important. I want to make sure at the beginning I am there as much as I can be to try and help out, just be there for whatever is really required of me."

Almost three weeks ago, Murray helped Great Britain win their first Davis Cup title in 79 years.
