Christina McHale "so happy" with Australian Open progression

Christina McHale admits to feeling "embarrassed" after vomiting on court during her first-round match against Stephanie Foretz earlier today.

Christina McHale has admitted that she is delighted to have progressed through to the second round of the Australian Open after falling ill during her match against Stephanie Foretz.

The 22-year-old vomited on court with the contest tied at 4-4 in the decisive third set, which took just short of two hours to complete.

McHale managed to recover in time to edge out her French opponent 12-11, however, later admitting that she felt "embarrassed" by the incident.

"I feel like all my first rounds at the slams are always really dramatic," she told reporters. "I'm just so happy I was able to pull through this one."

"I was just embarrassed that it took so long to clean up. But I did feel much better after I let it out."

Next up for McHale is a meeting with Carina Witthoeft later this week.
