Either Maria Sharapova or Li Na will be the first woman into the final at this year's Australian Open.

Li Na and Maria Sharapova will be the first semi-final in tomorrow's day session at the Australian Open.

The pair have played each other 12 times, with the Russian coming out on top in eight of their meetings.

Next up on Rod Laver Arena will be Victoria Azarenka and Sloane Stephens.

The American teenager caused a shock by upsetting world number three Serena Williams in the quarter-finals.

Defending champion Azarenka battled past Svetlana Kuznetsova and will enter the match as favourite, but will no doubt be taking the teenager seriously.

The first of the men's semi-finals between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer is scheduled for the night session.

The Spaniard came back from two sets and a break down against Nicolas Almagro to reach the last four, while Djokovic overcame Tomas Berdych in four.
