Dodig 'feared death' in Australia heat

Ivan Dodig has admitted that he feared for his life when playing in searing temperatures at the Australian Open.

The Croatian was forced to retire during his second-round match against Damir Dzumhur in Melbourne, with temperatures peaking at 42C (107.6F).

"Thirty minutes after the match, I could not walk," BBC Sport quotes Dodig as saying, with the 29-year-old adding that he feared he "could maybe even die" in the heat.

Dodig was forced to withdraw with cramp after two hours and 22 minutes, with his opponent leading by two sets to one, but trailing 4-1 in the fourth set.
