Murray stays alive at ATP Finals

Andy Murray has recorded a straight-sets victory over Milos Raonic to keep his hope alive of reaching the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals.

The British number one faced elimination had he lost to Raonic on Tuesday evening but he held his nerve to prevail with a 6-3 7-5 triumph over the Canadian.

Murray squandered an opportunity to break Raonic in the fourth game of the match but he kept his composure to strike in the sixth to open up a 4-2 advantage.

Neither player was producing their best tennis but after seeing two set points go begging, Murray converted the third with a heavy first serve down the middle to register his first set of the tournament.

The two players traded breaks during the start of the second before the score reached 5-5, and that's where Murray struck with his best form of the encounter to give himself the opportunity to serve for the match.

The 27-year-old let one match point slip by but he held his nerve to move level on points with Kei Nishikori in the Group B table.
