The opening set remained on serve until 2-3 when Berdych broke his Scottish opponent to take control of the set and eventually secure it 6-3.

Murray was first to break in the second, however, at 2-1 as the Olympic champion demonstrated his power on the court by levelling the match at one-set-all.

The third was an equally tight affair, with the only break coming at 1-1 as Murray moved ahead and held serve to claim the victory.

Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will also clash in London this evening.
