Andy Murray: "It was a tough match"

Andy Murray: "It was a tough match"

Andy Murray has admitted that David Ferrer provided him with a "tough match" during their meeting at the ATP World Tour Finals this afternoon.

World number two Murray got his campaign in London off to a winning start courtesy of a 6-4 6-4 triumph.

However, the Scot has revealed that the encounter, which lasted one hour and 32 minutes, was not as straightforward as the scoreline might suggest.

"It was a tough match with a lot of long rallies and he fought right the way through to the end as always," he said during his post-match interview.

"He made it extremely difficult for me but he didn't serve as well as he can which helped me and I played a bit more solidly at the end of both sets."

Murray will now take on either Rafael Nadal or Stanislas Wawrinka in his second group encounter on Wednesday.
