Joe Greenwood opened the scoring for the current champions, finding a gap in Warrington's defence after strong build-up play.

Wolves responded immediately when Daryl Clark went over after Mose Masoe was penalised for a shoulder charge, with Stefan Ratchford converting to level matters.

However, Saints took a stranglehold on the match thanks to tries from Jon Wilkin and Adam Swift, with Travis Burns making it three kicks from three as the home side headed into half time 18-6 ahead.

Micky Higham gave the visitors hope after the break, squeezing through to bring Warrington within six after Gareth O'Brien converted.

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook scored Saints' fourth try of the game, before Tommy Makinson seemingly put the tie beyond Wolves.

Late tries from Kevin Penny and Chris Hill gave the Wolves hope, but after Burns's penalty put Saints eight clear, the home side stood firm to make it six wins from six.
