Salford Red Devils keen to extend Cory Paterson contract

Martin Vickers, the chief executive of Salford Red Devils, announces that the club are locked in talks with Cory Paterson regarding a new contract.

Salford Red Devils chief executive Martin Vickers has revealed that talks with Cory Paterson over a new deal are currently ongoing.

The 27-year-old, who ended a brief retirement from rugby league to join the Red Devils earlier this year, has proved to be a key figure for his side.

Other teams are said to have shown an interest in Paterson, although Vickers has made it clear that Salford want to keep hold of the fans' favourite.

"We are talking with Cory and he knows we are obviously wanting him to stay at Salford," he is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News. "Our contract talks with Junior Sa'u and Theo Fages also remain ongoing."

Salford find themselves down in 11th place in the Super League table following seven-successive defeats.
