Salford City Reds earn first win of season

Salford City Reds have won their first Super League match of the season with a thrilling 38-34 triumph over Hull Kingston Rovers at the Salford City Stadium.

The hosts touched down seven times while Marc Sneyd kicked over five goals to move them off the bottom of the table.

Despite two tries from Ashley Gibson and a score from Sneyd, the hosts found themselves trailing 14-24 at half time.

Michael Dobson touched down twice, while David Hodgson and Omari Caro also got on the scoresheet to cap a successful opening half for the visitors.

Greg Eden went over twice at the start of the second half to extend Hull's advantage before tries from Andrew Dixon and Jack Murphy saw Salford threaten a comeback.

Wayne Godwin's score then drew the home side to within two points of their opponents and the turnaround was complete with seven minutes left to play through Danny Williams's try.
