Salford 48-24 Warrington

Salford City Reds beat Super League challengers Warrington Wolves surprisingly comfortably on Friday night with a 48-24 win.

Salford started more brightly and very purposefully, Danny Williams scoring a try as early as the third minute.

The hosts kept up the pressure and scored two further converted tries in 23 and 27 minutes, to push into a commanding 18-0 lead.

They had a further try on the board before Warrington finally managed a score, their try from Stefan Ratchford on 36 making the half-time score 24-6 to the home side.

The second half started even better for Salford, with a further three tries on the board before 50 minutes.

A late rally by Warrington was too little, too late. Richie Myler, Chris Riley and Matty Blythe all managed tries, but Salford held out for a comfortable 48-24 win.
