RFL to investigate allegations of Salford City Reds' 'tapping up'

The Rugby Football League are poised to launch a probe into allegations that the Salford City Reds have illegally approached contracted players.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach Richard Agar has accused the big-spending club of directly speaking to a number of his players under contract.

"Salford will deny it and there is a third-party agent working for them but I know that players under contract have been approached," BBC Sport quotes Agar as saying. "That's a disappointing mode of operation."

The claims come after scrum-half Tim Smith moved to the City Reds.
