Iestyn Harris bemoans sloppy Salford Red Devils

Iestyn Harris admits that Salford Red Devils were always second best during their 30-16 defeat away to Castleford Tigers.

Salford Red Devils coach Iestyn Harris has admitted that his side 'struggled to get out of second gear' during their 30-16 thrashing away to Castleford Tigers.

The Red Devils were comfortably beaten last night as they suffered their third loss of the season in the Super League.

Harris concedes that Salford were "nowhere near" getting a positive result against Castleford due to a lacklustre display.

"I don't think we got out of second gear, if I'm honest," he told BBC Sport. "It is a team sport and you've got to work together as a cohesive unit to be able to get anywhere near your best and we didn't really do that.

"We were very individualised and we didn't string anything together which we have been working on for the past five weeks. It's disappointing because you can't come to Castleford and be under par and expect to get anything out the game. We were nowhere near."

Salford have the chance to get back to winning ways on Thursday when they host Widnes Vikings in the league.
