Sir Ian Holm was an English actor of stage and screen, most noted for his roles in Chariots of Fire, Alien and the Lord of the Rings franchise.

His turn in Chariots earned him a BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor, as well as a nod at the 1981 Oscars.

Holm died in hospital on June 19, 2020 after battling Parkinson's disease for many years.
