Chopra guilty of race-fixing

Ipswich Town striker Michael Chopra has been found guilty of race-fixing following an investigation by the British Horseracing Authority.

Fellow professionals James Coppinger and Mark Wilson were also given a guilty verdict, along with former flat jockey Andrew Heffernan.

The charges were in relation to various bets made on horses that lost during races between November 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011.

The races in question involve horses Wanchai Whisper, Gallantry and Silver Guest, who were all ridden by Heffernan.

Chopra revealed last year that he had suffered from a gambling problem.
