Police arrest man over alleged assault on Chesterfield's Ian Evatt

Lancashire Police have arrested a man on suspicion of assault following an on-the-pitch incident involving Chesterfield captain Ian Evatt.

The 33-year-old claimed that he was "punched, kicked and spat on several times" following his side's playoff defeat to Preston North End on Sunday.

The incident is alleged to have occurred following a pitch invasion at Deepdale after Chesterfield succumbed to a 3-0 loss at the hands of their League One opponents.

According to ITV News, a 20-year-old man from Preston was arrested in connection with the incident on Monday morning.

Evatt made the accusations on Twitter and described the attack as an "absolute disgrace".
