Louis Smith: 'I've answered my critics'

Louis Smith believes that he has answered his critics as he wins gold in the men's artistic gymnastics as part of a four-man Team England side at the Commonwealth Games.

Louis Smith believes that he has answered his critics as he was part of the Team England side that all but claimed the gold medal in the men's artistic gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games.

The four-man team – consisting of Smith, Kristian Thomas, Sam Oldham and Max Whitlock – posted a score of 266.804 to finish ahead of Scotland in an excellent performance at the SSE Hydro.

He told BBC Sport: "I think I've answered my critics who questioned my decision to return to the sport. Today has been a brilliant experience, despite what happened to Sam Oldham.

"We've loved being here at the Commonwealth Games."

Smith had retired from gymnastics in 2013, but returned at the start of the year to get into the side for the Games.
