Jenson Button: "We threw it all away"

Jenson Button believes McLaren "threw away" their chance of achieving a stronger result at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Jenson Button was left unhappy after the Hungarian Grand Prix as he believes McLaren "threw away" the chance to earn a stronger result.

The McLaren team appeared to misread the weather after sticking to intermediate tyres, while the rest of the field opted for slicks.

"I did everything right in the race and that's why it's always tough when in every condition you do everything you can," Button told reporters. "Fifth at the start of the race, definitely out of position, and I put the car in a good place then we threw it all away."

Button was leading the race during the first stage of the Hungarian Grand Prix but the early double pitstop saw the Brit finish 10th.

Daniel Ricciardo won the race, while Lewis Hamilton finished third after beginning in the pit lane.
