Hamilton aims to lighten fans' mood

Lewis Hamilton has urged fans to remain patient at the British Grand Prix over the weekend, after rain threatened to wreak havoc at Silverstone.

Friday's practice was dominated by continuous rain that left the track covered in puddles which made driving conditions almost impossible.

The situation meant that cars appearing in Friday's practice sessions were at a premium, but Hamilton asked for understanding and support in light of the conditions.

Hamilton said: "There were so many great fans out there and we really appreciate the support.

"Unfortunately, we can't waste any tyres so we can't afford to go and fine tune the set-up, but maybe it is something we can look at in the future."

Hamilton is looking for his second win at Silverstone, after previously winning in 2008.
