Sebastian Vettel has said he is delighted to have secured pole position for the first time this season.
The four-time world champion was fastest in qualifying in Singapore and will start up front on the grid with teammate Kimi Raikkonen close by in third.
Vettel says that it has been hard work for Ferrari to secure pole for the first time and is looking forward to Sunday's race.
"We had been waiting for so long for this pole to arrive, not just the team, but myself too," Vettel told reporters after qualifying.
"Now I'm looking forward to the race tomorrow, knowing that it will be very difficult and challenging to master all the conditions that you experience in a race. But we are starting from the perfect spot.
"I wouldn't mind to pull away at the start, but it's going to be a very long race. Hopefully we can have the same speed tomorrow, and then it could be a very good day".
The Singapore Grand Prix begins at 1.00pm on Sunday.
