Formula 1 governing body FIA rejects proposal to change rules before 2017

FIA rejects rule-change proposal

The FIA has rebuffed proposals to implement rule changes before the 2017 campaign in Formula 1.

The governing body was faced with numerous suggestions to make the sport more exciting for spectators during a commission meeting in Geneva this week.

Adaptations to bodywork and wider tyres were among the proposals discussed, but according to Reuters, the rule changes were rejected.

It is believed that Ferrari and Red Bull are part of the teams pushing for changes to be made next year, while Mercedes are reportedly reluctant to agree.
