Ferrari 'on a par with Red Bull'

Sergio Marchionne claims that Ferrari can match Red Bull for pace at the start of the 2015 Formula 1 season.

Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne has suggested that his team are capable of matching the pace of Red Bull when the 2015 Formula 1 season begins.

The Scuderia have shown signs of improvement in winter testing, with both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen having topped the timesheets during pre-season.

However, speaking at the Geneva Motor Show, Marchionne has claimed that Ferrari will be much improved from their 2014 campaign.

He said: "We will be on par with Red Bull when we go onto the circuit, but we will go to the track and see.

"I don't want to be critical, but the situation when I arrived was not good. The men and women of Ferrari have done amazing things that I never would have expected in these four months."

Ferrari finished fourth in the 2014 constructors' championship.
