Ferrari boost F1 budget by €100m?

Ferrari have reportedly stepped up their bid to close the gap on Mercedes by adding €100m (£73.2m) to the team budget.

The Scuderia impressed in pre-season testing, with both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen topping the time sheets at the first test in Jerez before Vettel took his first podium for the constructor at the Australian Grand Prix.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Ferrari have increased their spending on the 2015 season from €270m (£197.6m) to €370m (£290.9m).

Ferrari's prospects for catching Mercedes were helped when Vettel managed to split the Silver Arrows pair of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix.
