Felipe Massa escapes Ferrari punishment

Ferrari will not reprimand Felipe Massa for ignoring team orders during the Japanese Grand Prix.

Felipe Massa will not face a punishment from Ferrari after ignoring team orders during the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Brazilian, who will leave the famous red car at the end of the season, was told to let teammate Fernando Alonso pass him during the race but refused to do so.

Despite Massa's actions, team principal Stefano Domenicali insists that Ferrari have other more important issues to attend to rather than reprimand the driver.

"No not really," Domenicali told the assembled media when asked if it was an issue.

"To be honest with you we brought home today what was the maximum and there is no point in creating something around these things as there are other things that we need to focus on to try and improve the car up to the end of the championship."

The Indian Grand Prix is the next race in the calendar and will take place later this month on October 27.
