Nigel Worthington "enjoying" York relegation battle

Nigel Worthington is enjoying being in charge of York City and is confident that the club can escape relegation.

York City manager Nigel Worthington has admitted that he is "enjoying" his role to attempt to keep the club in the Football League.

The club were only promoted from the Conference National last season and are currently 23rd in League Two, occupying one of two relegation spots.

Worthington, however, has said that the players have enough about them to get clear of danger.

"It's been like that from the outset," Sky Sports News quotes Worthington as saying. "Nothing has surprised me since I've been here at all.

"In football, whether it's with Northern Ireland, in the Premier League with Norwich City, York or wherever, if you're a football person you adapt to the situation and deal with it as best as you can.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying working at this football club and with the players. We can't look to other teams to help us out, we've got to look after ourselves. It's all about performing in matches and getting results and if we can start doing that we'll be okay."

York travel to fellow strugglers Torquay United on Saturday.
