Gareth Ainsworth disappointed by Wycombe Wanderers performance

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth admits that his side's performance was disappointing during their 3-1 defeat to Burton Albion.

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has admitted that his team played below their usual standards during Monday's defeat to Burton Albion in League Two.

The Chairboys suffered a setback in their bid for promotion last night as they were beaten 3-1 at Adams Park in Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's first game in charge of Burton.

While insisting that his side's performance was not all bad, Ainsworth concedes that Wycombe did not do enough to come away with a positive result.

"They came and they outfought us, outworked us and they took their chances," he told Sky Sports News. "We had a few things go against us tonight but we were nowhere near the standards we've set so it's disappointing.

"There were a few bright little bits - we didn't give up and the fans were right behind us until the end, but it wasn't to be tonight."

Wycombe have the chance to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they make the trip to Cheltenham Town in the league.
