Half-Time Report: Wrexham lead Alfreton Town at half time

Wrexham have fought back from an early deficit to hold a 3-1 advantage over Alfreton Town at the break in their Conference Premier match.

Wrexham have impressed in their previous two games, but they fell a goal behind to the bottom-of-the-table side when Joe Ironside capitalised on indecision in the Welsh outfit's defence before firing home from 12 yards.

However, it took just eight minutes for Wrexham to get back on level terms when Jake Moult charged down a clearance from goalkeeper Cameron Dawson before converting into the corner.

The Dragons completed the turnaround shortly before the half-hour mark when Blaine Hudson rose highest at the back post to powerfully head Elliott Durrell's cross into the net.

Moments later, Durrell nearly made it 3-1 after he took the ball around Dawson, but the Alfreton defence were able to get bodies back on the line to prevent the winger's shot from finding the net.

However, Wrexham established full control of the match just before the break when Connor Jennings got on the end of an inviting cross into the middle to tap home from close range.
