Kenny Jackett: "We needed to win"

Jackett: "We needed to win"

Kenny Jackett has admitted that Wolverhampton Wanderers "needed to win"against Ipswich Town to keep their hopes of reaching the Championship playoffs alive.

Benik Afobe scored a second-half equaliser to give Wolves a 1-1 draw with Ipswich at Molineux, which leaves the team eighth in the table, three points off the top six with just two matches still to play.

The manager told the club's website: "Ultimately it is a better point for Ipswich than it is for us. We needed to win today. I felt we built up very well in the second half, we got a goal back early on and got some good momentum.

"We got a good tempo to our game and got the place going but just couldn't break down a very determined and well-organised Ipswich defence to get a second goal.

"You could see the spirit and quality at times of the players as well and a lot of athleticism to base things on. But we needed three points and are disappointed to only take one. It is out of our hands and we will need to win our games and other teams have to lose."

Wolves, who were only promoted from League One last season, travel to Wigan Athletic next weekend.
