Jackett still hopeful of promotion

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has insisted that his team is still capable of promotion this season.

Wolves were fighting near the top of the Championship table two months ago, but five defeats from their last eight games have seen them slip down to 10th place.

Despite failing to build on their strong start to the campaign, Jackett is confident that his side can get themselves back up the standings soon.

"We're still in a good, healthy position," he told BBC Sport. "We were always aiming, and still are aiming, to try to get to the top, and that's still a realistic aim.

"If the young players keep improving and we can make the right additions from outside the club, we can get a blend and a mix that can be a force in the division. We're still within touching distance to do that."

Wolves return to league action on Boxing Day when they travel to promotion rivals Watford.
