Danny Batth: 'Supporters are helping Wolverhampton Wanderers players'

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth says that the club's supporters are playing a significant part in their bid to win promotion from the Championship.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth has heaped praise on the club's supporters after they set a modern-day attendance record at Molineux against Aston Villa.

On Saturday evening, a crowd of 30,239 watched Wolves register a 2-0 win over their West Midlands rivals, with the result taking Nuno Espirito Santo's team to the top of the Championship standings.

Wolves continue to receive praise for their style of play under Nuno, and Batth has acknowledged that it may be helping to encourage more people to attend matches this season.

The 27-year-old told the Express & Star: "That is what it is going to take – we need the support of every single fan in the place to keep us going.

"The last game I remember the atmosphere being up to this level was the Chelsea game [in February]. That kind of support , it is not cheap to come and watch football so for the fans to spare their money to come and watch us, when it is on TV as well, is massive for us.

"It just shows if we keep playing the right football and getting the results, fans will come and support us."

Wolves are next in action this weekend when they host fellow promotion contenders Preston North End.
