A Marlon King own goal gives Wolves a 1-0 lead going into half time of their Championship match against Birmingham this evening.

A Marlon King own goal has been the difference in the first half of the Championship match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City this afternoon, with the hosts going into the break 1-0 up.

The visitors enjoyed the first chance of the game after eight minutes as Paul Caddis forced a save from Carl Ikeme with a fine strike from distance.

Wolves responded with a chance of their own in the 16th minute, Bakary Sako weaving his way down the left before pulling it back to Bjorn Sigurdarson, but his strike clipped the outside of the post on its way wide.

Caddis troubled Ikeme again after 22 minutes when he bundled his way down the right before testing the keeper from a tight angle.

It was the hosts who took the lead, however, as Sako's drilled free kick deflected off King and into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

If the result stays the same, Wolves will move up to 16th in the Championship table, while Birmingham will remain 19th.
