Half-Time Report: Borussia Dortmund peg back Wolfsburg

Borussia Dortmund peg back Wolfsburg

Second-placed Wolfsburg are being held by Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund after an entertaining opening 45 minutes at the Volkswagen Arena.

The hosts took the lead within a minute of kickoff when Daniel Caligiuri collected Kevin De Bruyne's pass and fired into the left corner of goal from inside the Dortmund box.

However, Klopp's side were handed a golden opportunity to level the game 10 minutes later when Diego Benaglio tripped Kevin Kampl in the box.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stepped up and made no mistake with the penalty, comfortably finding the bottom corner for his 16th goal of the season.

Henrik Mkhitaryan then collected Shinji Kagawa's pass and crashed an effort towards goal that was blocked by a Wolfsburg man, before Bas Dost's header from Ricardo Rodriguez's cross was acrobatically saved by Mitchell Langerak.

Wolfsburg could have retaken the lead through Ivan Perisic, but the Croatian midfielder could only stab Caligiuri's cross inches wide of goal, leaving the game level at the break.
