Birmingham City loan defender Rob Kiernan from Wigan Athletic

Birmingham City have signed Wigan Athletic defender Rob Kiernan on loan for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old links up with manager Gary Rowett for the second time, having previously played under him at Burton Albion.

It is the 10th loan move of Kiernan's career, having spent time at Kilmarnock, Yeovil Town, Bradford City (twice), Wycombe Wanderers, Accrington Stanley, Burton, Brentford and Southend United.

Kiernan, who remains under contract with Wigan until the summer of 2017, could make his debut when Birmingham welcome Middlesbrough to St Andrew's on Wednesday evening.
