Wigan Athletic defender Rob Kiernan excited for "biggest game" of his career

Wigan Athletic defender Rob Kiernan describes this evening's Championship playoff semi-final second leg against Queens Park Rangers as the "biggest game" of his career.

Wigan Athletic defender Rob Kiernan has described this evening's Championship playoff semi-final second leg against Queens Park Rangers as the "biggest game" of his career.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to start again for the Latics after helping them keep a clean sheet in the first leg on Friday, which finished goalless.

Kiernan made 13 league appearances under Uwe Rosler, who managed him while at Brentford last season and recalled him from his loan at Southend United soon after taking over at the DW Stadium in December.

"It'll be the biggest game of my career," Kiernan told the club website ahead of tonight's match at Loftus Road.

"I feel confident, I don't feel nervous; it's all about going there and doing the job.

"[The first leg] was a cagey game, QPR sat back and just watched the game carefully but we were happy to go to Loftus Road level so we can have a good crack at them there."

The winners will face Derby County at Wembley a week on Saturday for a place in the Premier League after the Rams' 6-2 aggregate victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
