West Ham United secure Doneil Henry signing

West Ham sign Doneil Henry

West Ham United have completed the signing of young Canada international Doneil Henry on a "long-term contract".

The 21-year-old defender joins the Premier League outfit from Cypriot side Apollon Limassol for an undisclosed fee.

"I'm 21 and I want to get a role with the team, keep my head down and take my opportunity when I can," Henry told the Hammers' website.

"I love a tackle and I just want to defend hard. I take pride in my clean sheets with the backline and with the keeper, so if we can just do that, it's job completed."

Henry has been capped 14 times by Canada and was recommended to West Ham boss Sam Allardyce by Toronto FC head coach and former pupil of Allardyce's at Blackburn Rovers Ryan Nelsen.
