West Ham United are reportedly ready to sever ties with Lucas Paqueta this summer ahead of the outcome of the Brazilian's spot-fixing investigation.
The former Lyon playmaker struggled to show the best version of himself last season following the FA charge, only managing four goals in 33 Premier League appearances.
Paqueta could have faced a lifelong ban if found guilty of spot-fixing, but the 27-year-old is expected to be cleared and could now start his career afresh away from the London Stadium.
According to the Daily Mail - via Sky Sports News - West Ham are prepared to sell Paqueta for around £30m this summer, a significant drop on their previous £80m valuation.
The midfielder's former club Flamengo are apparently among the teams to show an interest in Paqueta, who has produced 18 goals and 14 assists in 120 appearances for the Irons since 2022.
Manchester City were formerly heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian playmaker, but the Sky Blues cooled their interest and have since signed Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki to fill Kevin de Bruyne's boots.
West Ham 'considering move' for £13.1m playmaker
In preparation for Paqueta's possible departure, the Hammers are apparently weighing up an approach to sign Werder Bremen playmaker Romano Schmid.
The 25-year-old has settled in the Bundesliga since making the move from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019, and he was directly involved in 10 goals in the 2024-25 top-flight season.
Schmid came up with five efforts and five assists in the most recent Bundesliga campaign, prior to which he registered four goals and seven helpers in the 2023-24 season.
The Austria international's exploits have caught the eye of West Ham, according to Jacob Steinberg, who claims that the Irons are now considering a swoop for the 25-year-old.
While the former Conference League champions are not in advanced negotiations for Schmid, they have been alerted to a possible deal in the summer window.
Aston Villa and Fulham have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder, who could be available for around £13.1m.
Everton 'add Tyler Dibling' to attacking transfer shortlist
Further north, Everton have reportedly added Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling to their list of attacking transfer targets.
The 19-year-old is heavily expected to depart St Mary's in the wake of the Saints' relegation, although interest from European-competing clubs in the Premier League is yet to materialise.
Southampton were said to have valued Dibling at around £100m earlier this year, but the Championship side cannot drive a hard bargain given that he is now in the last two years of his deal.
According to The Times, David Moyes's Everton have now expressed an interest in signing the 2006-born attacker, but a deal will not materialise easily.
Southampton boss Will Still is supposedly banking on Dibling leading the Saints' promotion charge next season after the Englishman came up with four goals and three assists from 38 matches in 2024-25.
While it remains to be seen whether Everton can twist Southampton's arm, the Toffees are understood to be advancing in talks to sign Lyon winger Malick Fofana.
Asmir Begovic 'agrees move' to Championship club
Finishing with a player twice Dibling's age, veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has reportedly agreed to sign for Championship outfit Leicester City on a one-year deal.
The 38-year-old became a free agent at the beginning of July following his release from Everton, but he has no plans to retire from the game.
Instead, Sky Sports News reports that he will join up with Leicester for the 2025-26 season, and he is poised to undergo a medical with the Foxes in due course.
Begovic did not make a single appearance for Everton in the 2024-25 season, but he previously played 45 Championship matches for Queens Park Rangers in 2023-24.
The former Bosnia-Herzegovina international has also represented the likes of AC Milan, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Stoke City and most notably Chelsea, winning the 2016-17 Premier League title with the latter.
