Carlton Cole still 'frustrated' by failed last-minute West Bromwich Albion move

Carlton Cole admits that he had a "few words" with West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce after his move to West Brom failed at the last minute.

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has admitted that he still feels 'frustrated' by his failed move to West Bromwich Albion in the winter transfer window.

The 31-year-old was close to sealing a deal at The Hawthorns on deadline day on February 2, but Hammers manager Sam Allardyce decided to pull the plug at the last minute.

"It was 20 minutes to the deadline," the London Evening Standard quotes Cole as saying. "I was just on the table - where do I sign? It was one of those that was really frustrating. I am f-ing and blinding in the catering room over there, and I was like I have to get home now.

"I got a chance to play first team football and as a player I was not playing regularly at West Ham. Still not. He has chosen to not let me go. How I felt? It was really hard at the time and we had a few words but these things carry on and you dust yourself off and carry on."

Cole will come to the end of his current contract at West Ham in the summer.
