Sam Allardyce hails West Ham resilience

Sam Allardyce has hailed the resilience of his West Ham United team after earning a hard-fought 2-1 win away to West Bromwich Albion last night.

The Hammers had to come from behind as first-half goals from Kevin Nolan and James Tomkins turned the game on its head after Craig Dawson's early opener.

Allardyce then watched his side's defensive mettle tested throughout a one-sided second half, and the 60-year-old is delighted with his troops for their contrasting qualities in both halves.

"In the end, we've pulled off another victory. I'd say it wasn't great, particularly the second half, but it was resilient," he told reporters.

"We knew what we had to do and we did it. Having come back from 1-0 down, particularly away from home is always a big task."

The East Londoners stay fifth in the Premier League table, one point adrift of the top four.
