Michail Antonio signs contract extension at West Ham

West Ham United have announced that striker Michail Antonio has signed a new contract until the summer of 2024.

The 31-year-old's deal was due to expire in June 2023, however, after positive talks with the club's board, the Jamaica international has decided to extend his stay at the London Stadium by a further year.

Antonio has been in impressive form for the Hammers this season, scoring eight goals in 19 Premier League appearances, which has helped David Moyes's side challenge for a place in the top four.

The striker's outstanding start to the campaign was recognised, as he was voted the Premier League's Player of the Month for August, after contributing to seven goals in just three games.

During this spell, Antonio became the club's all-time record goalscorer in the Premier League, when his brace in the 4-1 win over Leicester City saw him surpass the previous record of 47 goals set by club legend Paulo Di Canio.

Prior to this season, West Ham's number nine played a major role in helping the club qualify for the Europa League, netting 10 goals and providing five assists in 26 league matches.

Antonio joined the Hammers in 2015 from Nottingham Forest, and has gone on to make at total of 203 appearances in all tournaments, scoring 57 times and registering 33 assists.
