Andy Carroll to see foot specialist in Belgium

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll will fly to Belgium this week for specialist advice on tissue damage to his heel, according to reports.

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll will travel to Belgium this week for further consultation over a heel injury.

Carroll was diagnosed with damage to the plantar fascia tissue in his foot last week, a problem which was expected to rule him out for a large part of the campaign.

The England international is desperate to avoid surgery, which would leave him sidelined for most of the season, with a trip to Belgium designed to speed up his recovery and stave off going under the knife.

After seeing several heel specialists, Carroll is going to Belgium for another opinion and wants the green light to begin an intense rehabilitation programme, according to The Mirror.

Sam Allardyce's side have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League games without Carroll leading the line, a run which continued in last weekend's goalless draw against Southampton.
