Slaven Bilic: 'Dimitri Payet will make every West Ham United player better'

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic believes that new signing Dimitri Payet will make every player at the club "better than they actually are".

Slaven Bilic has backed Dimitri Payet to make "every player better than they actually are" at West Ham United after completing the move to Upton Park earlier this summer.

The French international, who scored twice on his debut in a friendly against Southend United, joined the Hammers from Marseille last month.

"It's still early days but I know so far he's not only a great player but he's professional and he's a good lad. He's the kind of player I thought we really needed," the Daily Star quotes the manager as saying.

"He's going to make every player better than they actually are, he's got everything and he likes to take responsibility.

"He was my number one target and I am grateful to chairman that we got him and it was done like that, not in four weeks."

Payet was also involved in the build-up to the only goal in the club's 1-0 win over Norwich City last night.
